A Extensão do Toque / The Extension of Touch

In May 2020 I launched my first curatorial project online under the title of "THE EXTENSION OF TOUCH" / "A EXTENSÃO DO TOQUE", part of the JANUS cycle of exhibitions, to which I was invited by the portuguese cultural association POUSIO - Arte e Cultura.

For a couple of weeks I was in touch with several artists who were very responsive to my proposal and introduced me to a universe of very talented work which was unknown to me. I selected artworks that directly resort to the act of touching, the absence of it or the need for its activation. I didn't want to over-saturate the topic of the pandemic, however I also didn't want it to be invisible to the viewer. I suggest a reflective reading of the works at a disruptive time, looking deeply into a gesture that is usually taken for granted, yet becomes limited.

I gathered 13 Portugal based artists, 33 artworks that cross different visual languages, and collaborated closely with the tireless Rita Núncio who put together a beautiful design.
